Touch Rugby Taking Off

Touch Rugby Taking Off

Matthew Jary13 Jun 2018 - 09:06

L&Y's Monday Touch sessions are packing out as ex-players and newbies realise how relaxed and fun the game can be.

There is a new sport in town. Great fun, running, agility, ball-handling, no-contact, ages 14 to OAP, both genders and free to try. Every Monday evening at 6pm at Gunton Park, Corton home to L&Y Rugby Club, they have been developing some budding players from a mixture of youngsters, ex and current rugby players, netball players, wives and girlfriends, and old codgers.

As you might gather, its a safe, all inclusive game based loosely on rugby. You pass backwards and score tries but its 6-a-side, you need a few subs to swap in as substitutes, the games are short and fast, tackles are touch only and its a lot of fun.

Aside from Mondays, there is a tournament organised for Sunday 30 June at 1pm at Gunton Park and entries are £60 per team of up to 12 people and includes food. Trophies and medals are up for grabs and teams will be coming from all over the region. We can even combine part-teams together in case numbers are short. There will also be an open bar, Pimms Tent and Cider stand, plus BBQ.
