Lowestoft & Yarmouth Rugby Club Under 13s were unstoppable when they came out top of their group and undefeated after travelling to Stowmarket for the final rounds of the Eastern Counties Under 13 Festival on Sunday 5th March.
The 15 strong squad played four 15 minute games and hit the ground running with a really impressive win against Stowmarket, scoring 6 tries to the oppositions 1. Next up were Brightlingsea who despite their best efforts didn’t get the ball down over the try line at all and were solidly defeated 3:0. In game three Harwich put up a spirited defence but were found wanting after only scoring 2 tries to L&Y’s 3. The final game was against Wisbech who looked like they had got away as they were a try ahead with only 2 minutes to go but our lads in Blue and White kept their heads up and fought on making very good use of a last minute opportunity to score an equalising try making the final score 3:3.
The under 13 side has come a long way since the start of the season in September. The U12s joined forces with the U13s and several new players joined the club boosting their numbers, with a lot of hard work from both the players and the coaching team lead by Michael Massey, the improvement has been impressive and the excellent results have been well deserved.
