Drifters v Medics 2
10/10/2015
Saturday saw L & Y Drifters return to the pitch in their first game at the club this season and since the sad loss of Phil Smith. As usual Norwich Medics bought over a young fit side, these younger legs dominated the game for the first quarter and saw them score first but soon the Drifters squad of age and experience began to control the game with good old fashioned ball up the shirt rugby.
Midway through the second half of the game as Lowestoft took advantage of their superior bench and began to score regular tries. An injury to the Medics Tight head saw a reshuffle of both front rows and Tex Coleby was introduced to the fray and, at 73, he was probably older than the Medics entire front row. The Drifters side also included Paul & Kieran Baldry and Dan and Tad Dare playing as father and son.
The final try of the game saw Tad Dare sidestep his way through most of the Medics squad, turn round and run back towards his own players, this earned him the coveted award of the naughty step.
Many thanks to all players old and new who made this game possible.
